Abstract
A liquid crystal cell for display purposes is produced by depositing on a lower glass plate the lower electrodes, consisting of In2O3, followed by a vacuum-deposited thin film of SiO. The cell is surrounded by a spacer frame with a top of low-melting metal. A similar glass plate, but without the spacer and with a common counter electrode, is pressed to the bottom plate and heated until the low-melting metal fuses. This process is easily automated for mass production. The cells produced are of high quality and are suitable for multiplex purposes.
