Abstract

The gas blast circuit breaker has two partitioned chamber the first one containing the stationary contact and being coupled to the second one by a nozzle-like aperture. Through the latter extends the moving contact which in the made state reaches up to the stationary contact which is surrounded by an annular electrode in electric contact with the same for attracting the light arc, generated on breaking, as in 2339652. Each partition (2) has an aperture (5, 22), in which moves a piston (7) connected to the moving contact (11) and having the nozzle-like aperture (8). The piston supports during breaking step the motion of the moving contact against the pressure gradient between the two chambers.
