Abstract

The gas normally enters through an inlet (3), passes through an opening (13) and leaves, via a pressure roller (34), through the outlet (4). A passage (6) connects the outlet to a chamber (5) on one side of which is a membrane (1). In the event of either high or low pressure existing in the outlet pipe and the chamber, the membrane deflects outwards or inwards, pivoting a bar (20) about one of t wo points (22, 23). This moves a metallic strip (26) downwards so that it is captured by a magnet (16). The resulting change in magnetic flux permits a spring (11) to overcome the magnetic attraction and pull a plate (14) away from the magnet. This closes the opening (13) by pushing a piece of suitable material (8) against a seating (12). There is a reset button (28) and another manual operation button (31).
