Abstract

Gas filter has element through which gas passes. When the element becomes fouled the pressure drop across the filter increases and the gas flow will begin to fall. A device is located in the inlet stream which is coupled to a diaphragm valve and by this to the outlet line. This emits an audible signal when the pressure drop across the filter rises above a certain level. The audible signal is formed by a vibrating tongue in the inlet device whose movement is hindered by the diaphragm valve until the pressure difference is such that this moves and allows the tongue to vibrate.
