Abstract
The shaped-section unit, of the type produced by cold-forming processes, is designed for incorporation in floors made of sheet steel (or other metal) and concrete, such units being laid together and subsequently covered in concrete, and needing to withstand considerable loading and tension. It is I-shaped in cross section, with the top flange narrower than the bottom one, and both the top flange and the interconnecting stem are twice as thick as the bottom flange; this may be achieved by making the top flange and stem from two layers of sheet metal side by side, the ones in the top flange being welded or mill-edged together, and the ones in the stem being interconnected by half-punched-out tongues. There may be longitudinal creases in the flanges, and the bottom flange may have a downwards-open central longitudinal groove. A better utilisation of the elastic qualities of the sheet steel is attained.
