Abstract

331,001. Bridges, F. S. April 3, 1929. Beam and girder casing blocks.-A cast block of gypsum, adapted to engage the flanges of a girder, has girder-engaging recesses adapted to receive a filling of gypsum to fix the block in position. The illustrated block is rectangular in section on three sides while the fourth side is wedge-shaped, as shown at 12, on the lower portion below the flange-receiving slot 5. Metallic reinforcement 15 extends throughout the block and is bent to pass above and below the girder flange as shown. Fig. 3 shows a pair of blocks in situ, with the intervening space 16 and the crevices between the block and girder flange filled in with gypsum in accordance with the invention.
