Abstract

The first operation manufactures the basic material for the envelope. This consists of a centre strip of transparent plastic sheet joined along one edge to a paper strip. The opposite edge is also joined to a paper strip which is wider to provide a sealing flap (2). The second operation cuts this basic material into suitable widths. Thirdly each envelope is made by folding the narrow paper side over the wider across a central fold in the transparent section. The edges are then sealed together, giving the envelope a transparent bottom. A fold (3) is provided to form the pregummed flap.
