Abstract

2-Acylamino-chromones of formula (I) (where R is a group where (1) R' is H or alkyl, R2 is alkyl, -CO2H phenyl or phenoxy opt. substd. by >=1 halogens, R3 is H halogen, alkyl or phenyl, or (2) R is alpha-styryl opt. substd. on the aromatic ring by >=1 alkoxy or by a methylenedioxy group to form, with the aromatic ring, a benzo-1,3-dioxol-5-yl group, or (3) R is phenyl, pref. substd. by >=1 halogen, OH, alkoxy or acyloxy, or (4) R is pyridyl-N-oxide or thiazolidinyl-N-oxide, opt. substd. by -CO2H with the free bond on a C-atom, or (5) R is OR4 where R4 is opt. unsatd, alkyl or cycloalkyl substd. by NH2, dialkylamino, OH, -CO2H, phenyl or phenoxy opt. substd. by one or more halogen, OH or alkoxy, isoxazolyl, tetrahydropyranyl, piperidino, morpholino, N-alkyl- or N-arylpiperazino opt. substd. by one or more OH, acetamido or by phenyl opt. substd. by one or more halogen or alkoxy or (6) R is the group where R5 is the group -A-R7 where A is alkylene, R7 is H, dialkylamino, opt. esterified -CO2H, -CONH2, -CONH alkyl CON (alkyl)2 or heterocyclic e.g. imidazolyl or R5 is phenyl opt. substd. by >=1 halogen, CF3 or opt. esterified -CO2H, R6 is H or arlkyl, or R5 + R6 and the attached N-atom may form a piperidino or piperazino group, opt. substd. by alkyl, phenyl, halophenyl, -CO2H or alkoxycarbonyl, Ra and Rb are in positions 5,6,7, or 8 on the benzopyran ring and may be H, halogen, OH, acyloxy or alkoxy). Also their acid-addition salts and the salts of the -CO2H substd. cpds. with bases have analgesic, antiinflammatory, cardiac stimulant activity, and some have normolipaemic activity.
