Abstract

A pneumatic pistol for extruding hot melt adhesive has a barrel (11) located underneath and forwards of the adhesive chamber (8) and a heating elements (10) extends from front to rear in the base of the housing, with its front portion housed inside a sleeve (29) housed in an elongated chamber (28) immediately behind the discharge orifice (24), the front end of the sleeve carrying a conical valve member (31) which fits into a seating between the sleeve and the orifice. This valve member moves forwards to permit discharge of adhesive, against the force of a spring (34) around the sleeve. The front part of the barrel is connected to the body of the housing by a resilient cylindrical block (16), flanged each end, so that it may be bolted onto the portions each side. The return spring (34) is located between a flange (33) on the sleeve and a shoulder (27) inside the front barrel portion (22).
