Abstract

A branch pipe coupling bush has a flexible profiled lip (2) on the seal n1) which is attached at the root to a thicker second lip (4). An annular groove, into which the wall (10) of the main duct fits, separates the two and a further annular groove (5) accepts the wall of the pipe to be joined (11). The profile of the thin lip (8) eliminates any flow disturbances and gives good sealing whilst the thick lip reduces any deformation transmitted to the second pipe joint (5, 6, 7). The latter can be shaped (14, 15) to provide a good seal and allows the pipe (11) to be easily removed and replaced from the main duct.
