Abstract

The accelerator pedal is supported by a coil spring (2) which also keeps the throttle pedal (4) in the closed position. The spring is held in position by a washer (5). The washer is held by a cable which joins it to a control lever. By moving the control lever, the position of the washer (5) may be predetermined. If it is required to reduce the rate of acceleration, then the spring is fully extended and the accelerator pedal comes into contact early with the spring so the resistance against movement takes effect early. By pre-compressing the spring the effect may be brought in later. Automatic drives may also have the device fitted.
