[Also in Division F1] A throttle valve normally operated by an accelerator pedal may be moved to a desired position by a hand-operating means 7 and held therein by clamp means operated by an electromagnet 61. In Fig. 2 handle 7 is connected to a rotatable member 3 which is connected by a cord to the throttle operating linkage. Electromagnet 61 when energized moves rod 62 carrying disc 51 to the right to clamp friction disc 54 against the disc 32 and hold it in its selected position. The circuit of electromagnet 61 includes a switch 81 closed when disc 32 is in its released position, a switch (74), Fig. 1 (not shown), opened when the handle 7 is grasped, and switches 82, 83, Fig. 3, opened when the clutch and brake pedals are operated. The member 7 may be connected by a cable to the member 3.
