Abstract
The restrictor reduces the rate of acceleration in order to diminish fuel consumption and the risk of inadvertent infringement of speed limits. Elastic tension or torsion devices provide additional resistance to the movement of the accelerator in progressive or linear form from a particular degree of opening of the throttle, in one or more stages. Without affecting the range over which the accelerator operates, it becomes progressively harder to operate with an increased amount for which it is opened. The elastic devices can be in the form of pneumatic or hydraulic dashpots, connected to a rigid or elastic compression chamber at a remote point.
