Abstract
A safety device to prevent premature operation due to shock has a cylindrical mass (27) which is moved down against a spring (29) by the force of launching. This releases an escapement arm (14) to permit a clockwork timing mechanism (11, 24, 8, 9) to rotate a disc (18) and permit a finger (19) to enter a cut-out to release the striker (22). At the same time, when the mass moves a rod (28) underneath moves downwards and operates a slider (28a) with a cut-out (36) which moves to a position to allow an eccentric disc (37) with sloping cam faces (38a, 37a) to allow a pivot arm (41) in the base to swing round, due to the force of a spring (44) or centrifugal force, to a position where the detonator charge is located under the tip (25) of the striker pin (22).
