Abstract

Drains (1) are connected to perpendicular drains (4) connecting to a water outlet and the drains are placed in trenches filled with drainage material (2, 5). The trenches are then covered by a layer of earth and in this layer are formed further trenches crossing and intersecting the top of the secondary trench containing drain (1). These further trenches are filled with open cell granules of foam, such as polystyrene spheres. The main trenches may also contain granules. The drains are formed from polyvinyl chloride and the earth layer can be anchored with vegetation (9).
