Abstract

The main memory of the system contains data structures designated as semaphores and used to store data or processes requiring data. The system executes automatically a group of process synchronising commands, each of which releases a transfer of data from one process to another. The system contains a facility which addresses one of the semaphores according to each command and a facility which indicates in a semaphore, according to a certain zone, whether the data can be transferred. A device dependent on the indicating facility transfers the data according to each instruction. The semaphore is updated according to the type of each instruction executed. The central processing unit includes associative stores and a buffer unit.
