Abstract
The mixing of a liq. fuel with an auxiliary fluid for injection into a metallurgical furnace, the novelty being that the fluid is introduced before or directly into a turbulent zone in the pipe carrying the fuel, the turbulent zone forming an integral part of the fuel pipe. The auxiliary fluid is pref. vapours and/or gas which is fed by a nozzle at a press. at least double that of the liq. fuel. The process avoids difficulties arising in the combustion of the liq. fuel, and the fluid is pref. steam, hot-water, or hydrocarbon vapour. The advantage is a substantial redn. in the amt. of coke required.
