Abstract

Wet sprinkler plant with a closed pipe system and a compressed gas extinguishant vessel is operated in cold storage plants for automatic fire protection. The inner pipe walls, after installation, are pickled with a conventional pickle, then rinsed and neutralised. The pipe system, in a state of readiness, is filled with a pressurised cooling brine as extinguishant. Preferably the whole system, including the vessel, is under press, of inert gas or N2. The pH of the brine is kept above the acid region, and a chemical oxygen binder is added to the brine before the pipes are filled with it, and it is also filtered. The system remains functional for a long time, and corrosion is avoided.
