Abstract

The wiper blade is fitted to a support frame attached to a coupling insert which slots into the hollow wiper arm. The coupling enables the blade to tilt to either side for a set amount, restricted by stops so that it assumes a trailing angle as it wipes. The cylindrical insert in the arm then rotates to either side and operates a two-way valve with spray jets on either side of the blade mounting. This provides for a washer spray on the leading edge of the wiper blade with a simple, foolproof valve which is unaffected by fluid pressure, and which does not depend on centrifugal force, as do conventional systems.
