Abstract

Negative ion generating appts. is intended for res-establishing an ionic equilibrium in dwelling houses, work rooms and hospitals. Air is made to circulate in an ozone generator and then, having been compressed, it passes onto an electrostatic grid. Spec, an air space contains a brush discharge ozone generator, fed from a transformer and an electric resistance heater. A grid, fitted with points on the downstream side, is secured by an insulating ring; the grid is kept at a high potential by the transformer. The points charged to 10,000 voits charge the surrounding air with negative ions and the charged air flows into the room through the openings in the ring. The metallic distributor is kept at a positive potential with respect to the grid so that the emission of the negative ions can be controlled. The appts. is simple and effective; the treated air may be humidified or perfumed by means of the injector.
