Abstract

A box has two parts (1), (2) connected by bolts (3) and one end (4) is fixed to the chassis. A rack (5) slides in the box, with a hole (6) for the belt end. The rack engages with latch (7) on sliding finger (8) carrying spring (9), adjustable by screw (10). The rack is spring loaded by spring (11) in opening (12). The rack carries a lug (13) allowing latch (7) to disengage in a collision. The rack then contacts pinion (14) on shaft (15) with counter weights and tension springs (171) and a friction device. The centrifugal force of the counter weights causes braking and slowing of belt release speed.
