Abstract
The system is particularly for use on motor vehicles, and exerts a damping force proportional to the speed of movement of the body. The speed can be determined by measuring the force exerted on it and integrating this in the time. Spring and damper can be mounted in parallel with a power absorber in series with them. The power absorbed by the latter is integrated and the damping force adjusted accordingly. The absorber can emit an electrical signal to an integration unit, and absorber and integrator can be combined in a unit comprising an auxiliary and damper in parallel, the alteration in damper length measuring the integrated force exerted by the unit.
