Abstract

The interlock is esp. for vehicle safety belts and includes a switch which breaks the vehicle electrical circuits to minimise fire risk. The switch can be operated by finger pressure if required. The switch operating surface (34,35) is incorporated in one side of the belt (14) fixing and is recessed within protruding side walls to prevent accidental operation. The switch is electrically connected between the positive battery terminal and the various vehicle electrical services. In case of the belt suffering shock and hence traction on the belt, a block (6) integral with a piston (4) in the belt mechanism runs over the ramp (28) of a rocker which moves into a position where the switch (29) is opened and cannot be reclosed if the piston moves back.
