Abstract

1364523 Suspending curtains K BRATSCHI 27 July 1971 [28 July 1970] 35264/71 Heading A4B [Also in Division F2] A suspension assembly for hanging curtains or other articles comprises a first, driving unit including a casing 1 for an electric motor and gearing, and a second, hanging-supporting unit including a guide rail 3 containing an endless band 6 engaged over reversing pulleys 8 mounted on vertical axes in end casings 4, 5, fitted to the rail 3, connection means being provided on the casings such that the driving unit may be manually fitted to an end casing 4 in driving engagement with the pulley 8 alternatively on the upper or lower side of the end casing 4. A non-circular drive-shaft 2 of the driving unit engages a correspondingly shaped socket 12 in the pulley shaft 10. Bolts 20 with packed portions 22 are screwed into selectable pairs of threaded bores 19 in the motor casing 1 and are engageable in apertures 23 with constricted portions 24 formed through the end casing 4. The pulley 8 has peripheral projections 13 which engage spaced perforations 7 formed in the band 6. The pulley 8 includes a stepping clutch mechanism 15-17 which operates in the event of overload. A master runner may comprise a pair of sliders 30 attached to ends of the band 6 and a spring bow 33 with suspension apertures 37', the bow 33 having lugs 34 engaged with the sliders 30 to inter-connect the latter and tension the band 6 and render it effectively endless. Another form of runner Figs.11-13 (not shown) may be fitted through an opening (45) in the rail 3 and includes a slider element (38) and a suspension part (39) which is rotatable relative to the slider (38) to effect engagement or-disengagement of a pin (41) or the suspension part (39) with or from a perforation 7 in the band 6.
