Abstract

The flat switch is of shell-type with a thermal overcurrent trip containing a bimetal element and an electromagnetic short circuit trip. The two trips are connected in parallel, and the coil of the short circuit trip is connected directly to one protection switch terminal. It is connected to its other terminal over a flexible coupling with a moving contact connected to the magnetic yoke. The bimetal element is parallel connected to the coil over connecting line(s) and a bimetal support. The bimetal thermal trip may have a temperature coefficient lower than that of the coil. The parallel branch, containing the bimetal trip may have a positive temperature coefficient (as possibly the bimetal trip itsel).
