Abstract

Hydrogen and oxygen are produced by electrolysis using atomic energy as the source of power. the gases are transported at high pressure in underground pipe lines to the power station where they are stored in reservoirs (13) and (14) and then flow through the valves (15) and (26) to the combustion chamber (9) where they burn to produce steam. Additional water is added through the pipes (17) so that the temperature and pressure of the mixed steam is suitable to drive the turbine (19) which drives the generator (24). The condenser (23) is cooled with river or sea water and the condensate passes through the pump (22) to the pipes (17). The plant may be combined with a district heating system.
