Abstract

The valve body (3) carries a socket (6) for the ball (5) of the control lever which is fitted with a cam (10). Hydraulic fluid enters the valve through the port (30) and flows into the space (27) from which the outlet can be sealed by the plungers (11a) or (11b). In the position shown the cam (10) depresses the upper plunger (17b) and the inner spring (13b) which is calibrated to suit the required pressure reductions, pushes the lower plunger (11b) downward so that the transverse holes (25b) allow fluid to flow from the space (27) to the outlet (23b). The pressure at the outlet is that necessary to balance the downward force of the spring (13b).
