Abstract

Injection moulding machines incorporating an Archimedean screws as a melt transfer/injection component where the screw end is fitted with an assembly which forms an annular rotary seal at the downstream end of the screw and directs the flow on through a coaxial passage incorporating a captive non-return ball valve. Positively prevents reverse flow of material past the screw tip as the screw is advanced to generate injection or consolidation pressures. Design can process different materials or grades, including PVC, without having to change the screw tip/barrel clearance to develop the required back pressure.
