Abstract

A circular collar encloses the pipe end, and on this fixed collar rotates a circular support which is driven by a fixed motor. The rotating collar can be also moved axially by a hydraulic cylinder. The rotating collar has a cutter for cutting the outside diameter into tapered shape by rotating and by axial feeding. The cutter rests on a guide roller which is in contact with the tube outside wall. This arrangement is more efficient than the use of conventional lathes.
