Abstract

1421667 Dental chucks MORITA SEISAKUSHO KK 15 Aug 1973 [31 Aug 1972] 38583/73 Heading A5R A collet chuck for a dental handpiece comprises a circular cross sectioned metal tubular member 3, to accommodate the shank of a dental tool, having a plurality of slots 5 in a portion of its wall, that portion being closely surrounded by a tube of elastomeric material 6 which when inserted into a hollow rotor shaft 1 with an interference fit would effect radial compression in the tube 3 and produce a gripping force on the tool shank. The slots are preferably arranged longitudinally in a mid-length section of the metal tube made thinner by reduction of the outside diameter, and equi-spaced around the tube. A stopper 7 is provided to be located in the rotor shaft to form an abutment for the tool shank.
