Abstract

A method of reinforced concrete hull construction in which the hull shape is built up from wooden frames and planking, in an inverted position. After setting up the frames, deck planking is assembled followed by deck reinforcement, hull planking and finally hull reinforcement. The deck reinforcement is extended to connect with the hull reinforcement, and after each planking operation, the face coming into contact with the cement is covered by a polythene sheet. Longitudinal gaps are left between the hull planks so that the hull reinforcement may be hooked on, facilitating removal of the sheel when the concrete has set.
