Abstract
Cast bodies working at temps. up to 300 degrees C (continuously) or up to 400 degrees C (briefly) are made of alloys contg. (in wt. %) : Y 0.8 - 6.0, Nd 0.5 - 4.0, Zn 0.1 - 2.2, Zr 0.31 - 1.1, Cu up to 0.05, and Mn up to 0.2, the balance being Mg. These alloys are lighter than Al- or Ti- base alloys used for these purposes heretofore; they are relatively cheap; they have good mechanical properties; they do not contain highly toxic components.
