Abstract

Image tube for X or gamma-rays comprises an entry screen and made of a scintillator, a stop. layer and a photocathode, exposed to the radiation, a luminescent exit screen and means for accelerating and focussing electrons towards it from the photocathode, so as to obtain a visible image, whereby the stop layer is a phosphomolybolate glass contg. 20-80 wt% MoO3, together with traces of Al, and a nickel chrome (80% Ni). This provides improved light transmission and definition of image.
