Abstract

When preparing slices of bread and jam, the butter from the refrigerator is hard and difficult to spread while the other ingredient is sticky and tends to flow, Better results are obtd. if the ingredients are first mixed together in definite proportions; these vary according to the taste and appearance desired. In addition to the sugared components, other constituents can be added to improve the taste and appearance. A paste is obtd. which remains flexible, and easy to spread. It has a high energy value and is a favourite breadfast dish. When preparing the mixt., the ingredients should all be at the same temp., viz 15-22 degrees C, according to the quality of the butter. Any suitable means can be employed for making a homogeneous mixt.; this is immediately poured into the final package and frozen. When the prod. is to be sold in block form, wrapped in metallic paper, it is frozen and then cut ot size.
