Abstract
The linear main actuator is hydraulic, with so called "scram" spring emergency shut down facility, and the position of the main piston follows accurately the position of a drive nut on an electromechanically driven vertical lead screw within the hollow piston rod of the actuator, this drive nut forming the regulation component of a bidirectional hydraulic valve. Reed relay position sensing system, with a permanent magnet fixed to the piston, is used. Device is safe, reliable, simple, with accurate, fast response.
