Abstract
In a condenser for water vapour etc. tubes lead out from a vapour header to a 'U'-return bend and return tubes lead back from the bend to a condensate collector. In the direction of cooling air flow through the tubes, the outermost tubes form one condensing passage and are first and last to contact cooling air, and their adjacent tubes, which form another condensing passage, are second and penultimate to contact the air. This arrangement largely equalises the condensing duty of each complete passage so that thermal efficiency is high, bulk and cost low.
