Abstract

A continuous (non)woven web contg. pref. a thermoplastic component in advanced through a guide channel having pref. an M-shaped cross-section so that the web in folded over along longitudinal lines to produce four superimposed plies, and the folded web in their out into discrete panels and the cut edges of the panels secured together. when opened up each panel forms a garment (eg. a hat, an oversock) which is suitable for hospital use. Pref. the folded web is out and the cut edges joined by fusion of the thermoplastic component simultaneously using heated outter bars on bars oscillating at high frequency. The garments can be produced cheaply.
