Abstract
993,838. Cutting-out bibs. H. & H. PLASTICS MFG. CO. April 30, 1964, No. 18044/64. Heading B4B. [Also in Division A3] Disposable bibs, Fig. 1, are formed from a continuous length 12 of thermoplastic sheet material, Fig. 3, by turning one edge 14 under and the opposite edge 20 over by fingers 56 and 60 respectively, cutting away arcuate portions 26 with a die 64 and, with a heated blade 68, simultaneously severing adjacent bibs along lines 70 and sealing the side edges 16, 18 and 23, 24 of the hems 14<SP>1</SP> and 20<SP>1</SP> to the body of the bib. The cutout portion 26 forms a head-receiving opening and the bib is supported from the shoulders. To form ties 30, 32, a strip 80 is laid along the hem 20<SP>1</SP>, is severed and sealed by the blade 68 and is subsequently cut in two. To lengthen the ties, slits 22 may be formed by a vertically reciprocating blade 64a acting against a stop 64b.
