Abstract

830,747. Tool edge protectors. MOORE & SON Ltd., H. Oct. 7, 1957 [July 7, 1956], No. 21121/56. Class 61. A guard for the blade of a saw chisel or other cutting tool comprises a length of semi-rigid plastic material of channel section the sides of the channel section closely approaching or actually meeting each other at or near the edges to provide gripping lines of contact with opposite sides of the blade, the sides of the channel diverging from these lines of contact towards the base of the channel. Embodiments are described in which the edges of the sides are beaded externally or internally and in which the curvature of the sides is convex or concave and runs by reverse curvature into a base extending over more than a semi-circle. As shown in Fig. 10 the edges 4 are curved inwardly at 7B to make gripping contact with the blade 5. In a modification, Fig. 12, the gripping contact is made at 9 which is somewhat inside the beaded edges 7C. A curved guard may be provided for application to a curved blade.
