Abstract

A plate heat exchanger for two fluids at very diff. press. comprises a stack of hexagonal or lozenge-shaped, undulating plates, with their undulations oblique and criss-crossing in successive plates. In each pair of opposite sides, only one side is welded to a given adjacent plate; the transverse edges constituted by a succession of corners are sealed to the pressure casing; also, the free edges of the two outermost plates are welded to the casing. The outer walls of the headers are welded at corners to the pressure casing to form stiffeners.
