Abstract
A mould is made consisting of a gold layer bonded by an epoxide resin to a flat glass plate. The gold is shaped to be the negative of the desired optical conductor boundary surface, its impression being e.g. one micron deep and a few microns wide. This layer is then coated with a thin transparent film of a monomer which fills the impression and which is then polymerised to a layer with a high refractive index. Finally the mould is removed.
