1343164 Aspheric optical elements MULLARD Ltd 9 Aug 1971 37354/71 Heading G2J An aspheric, light-transmissive optical element such as a Schmidt corrector made to have the same optical effect as a glass master, comprises a light-transmissive substrate 1 with a moulded layer 3 of light-transmissive plastics material, the outer surface 4 of which is aspheric, the refractive index of the layer being greater than that of the glass master by a percentage that compensates for the linear shrinkage of the plastics material during casting from a mould having a complementary surface to the glass master.
