Abstract

The machine has two pairs of yarn guides supplying respective needle beds, one yarn guide of each pair supplying selvedge yarn and the other supplying knitting yarn. When the edges are knitted on respective needle beds, a yarn guide of each pair moves towards a respective end of the machine where the yarn is cut by a conventional cutter, and the other yarn guide of each pair moves towards the centre of the machine where the yarns are caught by a pref. pneumatically activated hook needle and lowered to an auxiliary cutting which is pref. also pneumatically actuated according to a control programme. Both needle beds are used simultaneously resulting in a more efficient operation.
