Abstract

To eliminate the risk of explosion in utilising high temp. exhaust gas from internal combustion engines and oil burners to vaporise flammable cryogenic liquids e.g. CH4, water is injected into the hot gas so that the heating fluid is reduced in temp. and simultaneously increased in mass before it contacts the exchange surface. The liq. CH4 is pumped through a coil inside an exhaust duct through which the hot gas is passed. Fine mist of water droplets is sprayed into the gas upstream of the coil.
