Abstract

A drier for flour and similar pulverulent materials, using hot gas in contraflow over the material as it is activated and conveyed in a pipe by paddle blades on a rapidly revolving shaft, is constructed with the paddle blades extending over only part of the length of the pipe; the blades terminate before the end, and a screw effects the remaining propulsion necessary. This slows down the conveying speed as the material leaves the pipe, preventing dispersal of fine dust by the heating gas.
