Abstract

The wet mass of crystals is fed by an Archimedean screw input conveyor onto a ring of spiral guide vanes on the inside wall of the rotating drum through which hot air is blown from the same end, and these propel the mass forward onto a number of rings of "trickle" vanes in the form of "dredger bucket" profiles. Centrally placed, esp. level with the first ring of these vanes, is a squirrel cage assembly which breaks up lumps of coagulated crystals falling out of the buckets as they pass over the top arc of rotation. Similarly "breakers" may follow. Simple method of uniformly dried product.
