Polycrystalline garnet ferrites of general compsn. Y3-3xGd3xFe5-5y-2uAl5yCouSiuO12 (where O x =0.6; O = y =0.24; 0.09 = u =0.25) and which exhibit negligeably low magnetic losses over frequency ranges at U.H.F. whilst maintaining relative permeability >1. In partic. the low loss regions for partic. cpds. are:- Y3Fe4.8Coo.1Sio.1O12 is approx 1200 MHz; Y3Fe4.5Coo.25 Sio.25 O12 1100-1500MHz; Y1.5Gd1.5Fe4.8Coo.1SiOo.1 O12 1000-2000MHz; Y1.5Gd1.5Fe4.7Coo.15Sio.15O12 0.150 MHz and 1000-3000 MHz; Y2.7Gdo.3Fe3.8Al Coo.1Sio.O12 300-850 MHz.
