Abstract
Polycrystalline ferromagnetic garnet of formula: Y3-3x-3y Gd3x Dy3y Fe5O12 (where 0.3= x =0.04 and 0.15 = y =0.03) is mfd. with a crystallite size of 2 mu and a porosity of a few % by mixing the appropriate high purity oxides, wet grinding, drying, adding aq. org. binder, granulating pressing, heating to remove binder (500-660 degrees C) and fritting at 0.5 t/cm2 and 1200 degrees C for 1 hr. Garnet finds use in wave guide technology and overcomes non-linearity and magnetic loss at 10GHz.
