Abstract

Creating a thin-wall zone in blow moulded containers by providing a locally heated rib in the mould, esp. to form a continuous thin-wall crease around the neck of the container. The rib is heated sufficiently for the moulding material to locally soften the partially flow away to adjacent zones before setting up. For mfr. of packages, medical ampoules, etc. which can be opened with a manual twist or pull. Ensures local thinning of the wall sec ion without a major change of moulding dimensions or exposing the weakened zone to external knocks.
