Abstract

An insert acts as a seal along the parting line of a shoe sole mould to prevent flashing during injection and becomes an integral part of the moulding. PRef. the moulding material can penetrate perforations in the insert to simulate a stitched reinforcing strip around the edge of the welt. The insert may be large enough to cover the edge of the sole, pref. located in the mould by suction vents. Simultaneously introduces trim of different colour or texture and prevents formation of flash which would require a trimming operation.
